Wildflower Oasis

Project Overview

This project is distinguished by the client’s complete confidence in our team to create a landscape intended for long-term enjoyment. The design incorporates a dynamic water feature that supports local ecosystems, a seasonal meadow designed for biannual reseeding, and a carefully planned arrangement of shade trees. As the landscape matures, these trees will develop into a natural canopy over the paved gathering area, enhancing comfort and usability throughout the year while creating a resilient and enduring outdoor retreat.

Key Features

Pollinator Garden

A pollinator wildflower garden is a living, seasonal landscape designed to support bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects while evolving naturally over time. Anchored by a framework of staple native plants that provide structure and continuity, the garden is refreshed with annually re-sown wildflowers that shift in color, texture, and bloom patterns from season to season and year to year.

Clover Lawn

A clover lawn is a low-impact alternative to traditional turf that naturally enriches the soil, supports pollinators, and requires less water and maintenance. Its dense, resilient growth creates a soft green carpet while improving soil health and reducing the need for fertilizers.

Water Feature

The pond is the focal point of the entire backyard and serves as a vital summer water source for local wildlife, including Western and Yellow-legged Paper Wasps, offering a place to drink, cool off, and thrive during the warmest months.

Paving Areas

We designed a flagstone landing that will eventually be embraced by the canopy of maturing shade trees. Since the home originally had no patio areas, we collaborated closely with the client to create paved spaces for lounging and enjoying both the new landscapes and the fruits of the hard work put into the project.
